Pant and Bumrah Shine in Latest ICC Test Rankings
The latest ICC Test rankings showcase significant movements following a week of compelling performances across both Test and T20I cricket. India's Rishabh Pant and England's Ben Duckett are among the biggest gainers, achieving new career-high rankings after remarkable displays in the first Test of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy at Headingley.
Rishabh Pant has surged to seventh place in the ICC Test batting rankings after his pair of centuries at Headingley. The dynamic wicketkeeper-batsman scored 134 and 118, joining Zimbabwe’s Andy Flower (2001) as only the second wicketkeeper in Test history to achieve centuries in both innings of a match. Pant is also the first Indian wicket-keeper batter to surpass 800 rating points in Test history.
Joe Root maintains his position as the top-ranked Test batter globally, followed closely by his English teammate Harry Brook. India’s Shubman Gill has also climbed five places to 20th after his impressive century in the first innings.
India’s premier fast bowler, Jasprit Bumrah, continues to hold the No. 1 spot in the ICC Test bowling rankings after another five-wicket haul at Headingley, reinforcing his dominance in red-ball cricket. England’s Ben Stokes has advanced three places to claim the No. 5 position in the Test all-rounder rankings—his highest in recent months—after contributing effectively with both bat and ball.
The T20I rankings have also seen notable changes following the tri-series in Glasgow, which featured the Netherlands, Nepal, and Scotland. Dutch batter Michael Levitt has jumped 16 places to 14th after a series of consistent performances. Scotland’s Brandon McMullen has also made significant progress, rising 20 spots to joint 38th.
The ICC rankings serve as a key indicator of individual performance, with each run and wicket contributing to the evolving hierarchy of cricket.
